I am an English-speaking Psychologist in Bologna. I am a chartered member of the Italian Board of Psychologists and of the Italian Society of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I am currently undertaking a four-year training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
In 2014 I worked for the NHS in London, with patients presenting with a range of mental health issues, including anxiety disorders, depression, personality disorders, drug and alcohol misuse, mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and eating disorders. In 2015 I moved back to Italy and worked in a psychiatric unit with patients presenting with severe and complex mental health needs. In 2017 I started working in schools with children and teenagers presenting with a range of mental health issues that affects their learning. In 2018, I started working in a clinic for psychosomatic and eating disorders. I also have experience leading support and empowerment groups for abused women, using assertiveness exercises.
Therapy can help you achieve a wide world of knowledge about your present and past self. I experienced therapy as part of my personal journey into psychology and psychotherapy so I acknowledge that it can be hard sometimes to get to know yourself so well. I strongly believe that positive alliances tend to be fostered by the therapist being warm, understanding and empathetic. A strong therapeutic alliance can lead to real change, you will feel safe and nourished while exploring difficult feelings and experiences.
My approach combines elements of CBT with Psychodynamic and Third Wave methods of intervention, including Mindfulness, CFT and ACT. In therapy we will focus on the current problem(s) and its components: emotions, thoughts and behaviour. CBT is a powerful and effective therapeutic modality which can be used to treat people with a wide range of mental health problems. In therapy you will learn about how to identify the triggers that lead to a cycle of dysfunctional behaviour. Together we will do a behavioural analysis to help you recognise your patterns so you can then intercept and change them. Therapy provides a safe and non-non-judgemental space, with the aim to help you develop alternative ways of thinking and behaving which aims to reduce any psychological distress. I also value the use of Attachment-based Therapy while working with my patients and the exploration of their attachment patterns, as I find this approach a great example of how tangible our past can be in our present.
I am curious by nature and in my life I developed a variety of interests and passions, which continue to grow and change over time. I play a number of sports, enjoy speaking multiple languages, like reading, writing, painting and making music, and love travelling.
